The 6am moment
It's 6am, the baby has a fever, and you and your partner both have big meetings today.
Nothing is wrong with you. You are doing a hard handoff with no map, and most of what you are carrying has never been written down.
This guide is where you write it down, so the plan lives on paper and not in your head at 2am.
What you'll work through
- Foundation. Where you honestly are right now: a Wheel of Life check-in and a Focus Finder for self, home and work.
- Preparing at Home. Your childcare plan, an “If This, Then That” plan for sick days and meeting conflicts, an equitable household plan, and boundaries at home.
- Reframing Your Return. Your transition plan, work boundaries, a pumping and community plan, and making space for you.
- Know Your Rights. A plain-language legal rights checklist and how to find your state's laws.
- Your Plan. A 30-60-90 day plan, the boundaries you are committing to, your support team, mantras and check-in dates.
Five honest minutes beats a perfect hour you never get. Start anywhere. Nothing in it expires.
From the author
My company didn't have a return-to-work plan, so I wrote one myself while I was still pregnant. I went back at twelve weeks. My plan covered my schedule. It didn't cover pumping during a meeting that ran long, or a snippy email about a day off that I was too tired to push back on. Nobody had told me to plan for any of it, so I wrote down what I'd had to work out the hard way. That became this guide.
Hi, I'm Coral.
I'm an ICF-certified coach and a mother of two. I built IMHMO because I know what it's like to look fine on the outside while you're coming apart quietly, and because I couldn't find the support I needed when I went back to work.
I don't think you need to become someone new to get through this season. I think you need to come back to who you already are, and have a plan that fits your real life.
